Coast of Cilicia & Cappadocia

Day 1 : Amsterdam – Antalya
Transfer to your hotel in Alanya where you spend your first night. We visit the city of Alanya.

Day 2 : Alanya – Anamur – Silifke
Visit to the castle in the old centre of Alanya with a beautiful view. Hereafter we go to the neighbourhood of Anamur where we visit the Anemurium. Anemurium is a coastal city opposite Cyprus with most of its ruins still intact.We also visit the Aya Tekla Church. Night in Silifke. Approx. 400 km.

Day 3 : Tarsus, Cappadocia
Tarsus, the birth place of the apostle Paul. Here we visit the well with holy water near the house were Paul was born.
On the road to Cappadocia we visit the underground city of Derinkuyu. 3 nights in Cappadocia. Approx 450 km.

Day 4 : Cappadocia
Today we discover Cappadocia, an unique area in Turkey. Amongst others we visit the valley of Goreme with several cave churches, frescoes and cave dwellings. Far before our era complete cities were cut out in the soft tuff. We also visit the idyllic city of Ortahisar, which is build in and around special rock formations. Furthermore we visit the abandoned village of Çavisin. If you like you can join a traditional “Turkish night” tonight. Approx. 200 km.

Day 5 : Cappadocia
Optional you can early in the morning enjoy a balloon flight above the exceptional landscape. Make your reservation locally. Only possible if the weather conditions are good enough. Costs about € 150 each depending on the number of participants. Today we see traditional skills at a carpet center and the special rock formations “üç güzeller”, the three beauties. We visit the Zelve Open Air Museum, one of the earliest-settled and last-abandoned monastic valley in Cappadocia. You will get a good impression how the population has lived here. Optional you can join the special show of the whirling derwishes. Approx. 150 km.

Day 6 : Konya
Via a part of the old silk route we travel towards Konya, where we visit the Mevlana Museum. Thereafter we travel to the Turkish Riviera to spend two nights in Antalya.

Day 7 : Antalya
City tour through Antalya with amongst others a visit to the big waterfall, the bazaar, a jewellers centre and a leather shop. Approx. 170 km

Day 8 : return trip or extension
Flight back to The Netherlands and arrival at Schiphol Airport. Approx. 25 km.
